India Microscopy Workshop 2027
Microscopy and Image Analysis Workshop
for life scientists working in India

Location: Ashoka University, Sonipat, Haryana, INDIA
Workshop Dates: 10-16 January 2027
Application Deadline: 31 August 2027
This 5-day intensive workshop is organized by Ashoka University
in partnership with IIT Delhi (Sonipat campus).
With an emphasis on hypothesis-driven experimental design, participants will learn how to properly devise and execute microscopy experiments to quantitatively address complex biological questions.

Extensive hands-on microscopy practicals across a variety of imaging platforms
This workshop will cover the following:
-
Microscopy
-
Introduction to optics
-
Fundamentals of fluorescent molecules
-
Brightfield microscopy
-
Widefield fluorescence microscopy
-
Confocal fluorescence microscopy
-
TIRF microscopy
-
Light-sheet microscopy
-
Two-photon microscopy
-
Super-resolution microscopy
(SIM, Airyscan, STED, SMLM) -
Advanced live-cell imaging
(FRET, FRAP, FLIP, photoactivation)
-
-
Image Processing
-
Fundamentals of digital images
-
Basic principles of image processing
-
Fourier transformation
-
Object segmentation
-
Machine learning
-
-
Quantitative Analysis
-
Colocalization
-
Ratiometric image analysis
-
Intensity measurements
-
Morphometric analysis
-
Motion tracking and modeling
-
Participants will not only learn the tools and skills necessary to perform a suite of quantitative analyses, but also the importance of imaging ethics and proper reporting to ensure reproducibility.

Image processing and analysis training for quantitative fluorescence microscopy
The workshop is more than a training program. It will also be a platform for interaction and sharing research interests to foster a collaborative Indian imaging community.
Please note:
-
Only life science researchers working in non-profit organizations are eligible to apply.
-
All communications and interactions during the workshop will be conducted strictly in English.
-
Application fee is ₹5,000. Travel to Ashoka University must be self-funded by attendees. Limited travel support may be available for participants who can demonstrate financial need.
-
All other expenses (including accommodation, local transportation, and meals) will be fully covered for all attendees.
