Ashoka Quantitative Microscopy Course

From experimental design to quantitative analysis:
A comprehensive microscopy workshop 
for life scientists in India

This 5-day course will equip participants to design and execute quantitative microscopy experiments to address biological questions.

Extensive hands-on microscopy practicals across a variety of
imaging platforms

This workshop will cover the following:

  • Microscopy

    • Introduction to optics​

    • Fundamentals of fluorescent molecules

    • Brightfield microscopy

    • Widefield fluorescence microscopy

    • Confocal fluorescence microscopy

    • TIRF microscopy

    • Light-sheet microscopy

    • Two-photon microscopy

    • Multispectral microscopy

    • Super-resolution microscopy
      (SIM, Airyscan, STED, SMLM)

    • Advanced live-cell imaging​
      (FRET, FRAP, FLIP, photoactivation)

  • Image Processing​

    • Fundamentals of digital images​

    • Basic principles of image processing

    • Fourier transformation

    • Object segmentation

    • Machine learning

  • Quantitative Analysis​​​

    • Colocalization​

    • Ratiometric image analysis

    • Phasor analysis

    • Intensity measurements

    • Morphometric analysis

    • Motion tracking and modeling​

Participants will learn to leverage the power of advanced microscopy through informed design, execution, and reporting of quantitative, reproducible imaging experiments.

Please note:

  • Applicants must be from non-profit organizations in India.​​

  • All communications and interactions during the workshop will be conducted strictly in English.

​​​​​

  • Course fee is ₹5,000. Travel to Ashoka University must be self-funded by attendees. Limited travel support may be available for participants who can demonstrate financial need.​

​​

  • All other expenses (including accommodation, local transportation, and meals) will be fully covered for all attendees.
